Redwood Coast Mercantile was born from the salty sea air of the Pacific Coast, and the mossy earth floor of redwood groves.
My name is Lindsey and I am a candle maker, mother, gardener, felter, and I enjoy seasonal living. I work on farms, I take care of my toddler, and focus on living a sustainable lifestyle while reducing my carbon footprint. In my early twenties, I was insecure and confused about my life as I sat next to a computer working 8 hour days. I had been doing this since high school and thought this is what everyone is supposed to do as a career if you wanted to make money and be happy. When my mental and physical health started to decline, I decided it was time for a change, a big change. I quit my job and began working at community gardens, vegetable farms and chicken hatcheries. This is what life was supposed to feel like! During this time I researched everything about sustainable living and regenerative agriculture. It all came together.
Shortly after I became pregnant. I gave birth to my son in January 2018 and have spent this time paving a new path as I jumped right in to motherhood. My husband and I are working on our dream of living in a small cozy home with acreage to own our own farm, raise our children on, and to live a happy life in the short time we are here on this planet.
